A downloadable mod

⚠️ BEFORE  YOU  PLAY ⚠️

You play Crystal Raves via mouse motion only. Where your mouse is doesn't matter when you cut a note, only the swipe direction matters.

When first starting out, I recommend using /nofail to get accustomed to the gameplay.

Every player needs to have the desired beatmap in the /tracks/ folder, extracted from the zip. Example folder structure:

 (...)/Nuclear Throne/mods/CrystalRaves/tracks/36b92 (Legend of the Throne - CMP1111)/

After you install a new beatmap, use the '/reset' chat command to load it.

FAQ:

Q. Where can I get beatmaps to play?

A. Download them from BeatSaver and extract the archive's folder into the /tracks/ folder.

Q. I clicked on a beatmap to select it, and pressed the number key for the difficulty, but nothing's happening!

A. Is a saber still on the ground? If you're in singleplayer, grab both, and switch to the one you want to use - or hold the fire key to use both.

Q. How can I use both sabers at the same time?

A. Grab both and hold the fire key. If you hold the Venuz horn key, it'll mirror the secondary saber horizontally, or vertically if swinging straight up/down.

Q. My friends can't hear music on their end online!

A. They need to download the same beatmap that you're trying to play, and the folder name must be an exact match.

Q. Why do songs stutter?

A. Since NTT has no way of determining how much time passed between one frame and the next, there's no way to make sure notes are in sync with the music. Instead, Crystal Raves forces the music itself to sync up to the internal song clock, which can lead to music stutters - especially in online play.

Q. Songs stutter really bad in online!

A. If the connection between you and your friends is poor, try using the '/correct' chat command set the correction delay.

Q. Why is it so loud?

A. Music tracks can't be pitch-shifted, so speed controls (see below) and Game Over pitch scaling wouldn't work. To circumvent this, Crystal Raves plays music files as regular sounds, which follow the Master volume slider. You can however use the '/volume' chat command to control how loud the music is.

Chat commands:

 Performance

  • /reflections            Toggles ground reflections

 Accessibility

  • /nofail                Toggles whether you can still lose HP, but won't hit a Game Over if you lose all of it
  • /nonotes                Toggles notes from spawning
  • /nowalls                Toggles walls from spawning
  • /nobombs                Toggles bombs from spawning
  • /nolightshow            Toggles the lightshow effects
  • /ai                    Toggles AI mode, which tries its best to hit every note coming its way

 Other

  • /reset                Stops the music if any is playing, removes song covers if any are present, and loads all of them back again, including any new ones
  • /volume [amount]        Sets the music track's volume, adjusted based on the Master volume slider
  • /speed [amount]        Sets the music track's speed multiplier percentage, default is 100
  • /filter [?text]        Hides any song covers that don't include the specified text in their name or author
  • /correct [?amount]    Intended for poor online connections. Leave empty to start a delay correction process by asking you to click once every second for 10 seconds, or type a value to set the correction delay manually
